A Psalm of Thanksgiving

Written by Daniel Jason Ong during his 52-day pursuit of God amid the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown, inspired by Secrets of the Secret Place

My Lord, My God, My Father, My Friend in need,
You are my beginning and my end.
You lay me down in green meadows.
You lead me next to quiet waters and restore my weariness, my tiredness, and guide me towards the path of righteousness.

Selah

You are my shepherd; I shall not want.
I lack worries, I lack wants.
You take care of my body, spirit, mind and soul.
You provide me an out when I cry out to you.
You relieve and release me from guilt.
I have righteousness as your gift, not based on my performance but by your Grace.

Even if situations seem unsafe or the road might come to an end,
You Lord, are with me, guiding me and loving me regardless.
Nothing will happen as I dwell in the shadow of the Most High.
Regardless, I have the full assurance of dwelling with Him wherever I am.

Oh Lord, you are a good father.
I bless your holy name because it is right to give you thanks and praise
Even though there is much anxiety, pain and suffering,
I will walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I am not overcome by fear.
Because You are with me in those dark moments,
Thank you, Lord God Almighty for you comfort me, protect me, guide me, and lead me.
You are worthy to be praised, therefore.

Selah

“Praise with joy to the Lord, all the earth!
Worship the Lord with gladness.
Come before him, singing with joy.
Acknowledge that the Lord is God!”
“He made us, and we are his.
We are his people, the sheep on his pasture.”

“Enter his courts with thanksgiving, go into his courts with praise.”
“Give thanks to him and praise his name, for the Lord is good.”
“His unfailing love remains and endures forever,
and his faithfulness continues to each and all generation.”

Give thanks to our Amazing, and Generous God!
Who spreads love and kindness.

Give thanks to my personal God;
Whose favour toward me extends beyond what I can ever imagine.
Without You I am a vessel out at sea without an anchor;
Because of You, I enjoy safety and shelter in your port.

I worship and praise You for the abundance of blessings:
My physical healing, my peace of mind, my wife; human pillar of strength, the food on my table,
My thanks can never be enough, for You my Omnipotent.

Gracious, Merciful God, bless me; for all the days of my life.
I love you for it was You, who first loved me and created me in your own image.
I bless you, I bless you, I bless you.
